Meet Lily Booth. As a Graphic Designer, Lily creates visuals that align with a client’s brand strategy, target audience and overall business goals. She produces high-quality deliverables that reflect on the client as well as Novella. And we love her for that! She’s also a member of Gen Z and usually plays DJ when we’re goofing around at the office.

What concert would you drop everything to see?

I would give anything to see Björk in concert, her music and art direction are both so conceptual. I love albums with concepts behind them, and that’s definitely her forte. Unfortunately, she basically only tours in Europe since I’ve known of her, so I would probably have to book a flight for that one.

What purchase, big or small, has been worth every penny?

My roller skates! I go to skate parks all around KC, it’s one of the only forms of exercise that I really enjoy. All the parts are pretty expensive, but it helps me get out of the house so for me it’s well worth it.

What is your favorite show?

My favorite show of all time is Veronica Mars. It might be nostalgia speaking, but to me it’s Kristen Bell’s best work. An amazing theme song, teenage angst, plot twists, and crime; what more could you want in a show? We don’t talk about the 2019 reboot though.

What inspires you?

I try to find inspiration in small things. As a graphic designer I feel like it’s been drilled into me to see patterns in everything, like the shadows of buildings or the paths that rain makes on windows. It helps me slow down and appreciate what I love.

What book changed your thinking?

A Wild Sheep Chase by Haruki Murakami.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I do a lot of traditional art in my free time, collaging, painting, drawing, sculpting, anything I can get my hands on. It’s a nice break from the digital media I do for work. I was an art kid before I decided on going into graphic design for college, so it’s fun to go back to my roots and create things for myself.

What’s your favorite place to go within walking distance of the office in the Crossroads?

Afterword Tavern and Bar, perfect for winding down after work.

What’s one of your favorite things about working on the Novella team?

I love how close knit we are. I’m not hesitant about speaking my mind, and I know that not only mine, but everyone’s opinions and presence are valued here at Novella. This environment lets creativity thrive, which is all I can ask for in a workplace.

Trip you want to go on:

I’ve always wanted to go to New Zealand. I’m not saying that because I want to go see where they filmed Lord of the Rings, but I’m not not saying that.
