How Can My Business Show Up on ChatGPT?

by | Aug 14, 2025 | AI, Resources

This year, clients have informed us that they discovered Novella Brandhouse through ChatGPT search! Even a year ago, this would have come as a shock. In 2025 and beyond, clients are curious: how can my company show up in ChatGPT search results? It’s not as complicated as you may think. Ahead, we’ll share how people are utilizing ChatGPT search and what this means for brands.

We are undergoing a global digital shift in the way users are searching for information online. Gone are the days of Google-only search. People are utilizing conversational search with chatbots to narrow their findings and gather specific, tailored info in just a few clicks. Thus, the way your brand shows up online is crucial.

As of July 2025, Adobe reported that 77% of U.S. ChatGPT users use it as a search engine. 24% of people go to ChatGPT first, with Gen Z (28%) the most likely to do so. 3 in 10 U.S. respondents trust ChatGPT more than other search engines. This proves a not-so-shocking truth: that AI search is the future of user research.

As you likely know, LLMs (large language models) like ChatGPT and Claude are trained to pull information from data across the internet. This isn’t just Google; it’s Glassdoor, LinkedIn, Yelp, press releases, Google Business reviews, business directories, social media, blogs, old web pages you don’t update anymore (yep), and more. This means that what people are saying about your brand and how your business presents itself online shapes the way it shows up in AI search.

Here are some tips for increasing your brand’s visibility for ChatGPT search:

  • Have a well-optimized website with SEO-friendly content
  • Maintain positive mentions in reputable third-party sources online (LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Indeed, etc.)
  • Maintain an active online presence (press releases, case studies, testimonials, etc.)
  • Use consistent verbiage and tone across touchpoints (website and social media)
  • Use the right keywords on your website that optimize search (e.g., “branding agency in Kansas City” or “local candle company in KC”)
  • Show up in business directories (especially for B2B businesses)
  • Publish case studies, client testimonials, and thought leadership pieces (especially for B2B businesses)
  • Blog posts! (Yes, people still do this. Especially if you’re B2B. It’s a free way to plug keywords on your website.)

Here at Novella Brandhouse, we often research the newest, most relevant keywords for our clients. This guides the way brand messaging shows up on their website, social media, blog posts, and more. With 47% of marketers and business owners using ChatGPT to market or promote their business, it’s as important as ever to ensure your brand is showing up effectively.
