Park Hill junior Grace Anne joined us for the spring semester full of research, random dance parties, and a deep dive into the inner workings of a marketing and branding company as our student intern from the Park Hill Professional Studies Program—an awesome program that gives high school kids the chance to shadow and experience potential careers in a real-life setting. We always love good company and Grace Anne quickly became a shining member of our team, exceeding all of our expectations, and quite honestly, setting expectations pretty high for future interns. We’re sad this is her last week, but confident she will go on to do some seriously amazing things. Read on for the experience in her own words:

When signing up for the Park Hill Professional Studies Program toward the end of my sophomore year, I was not sure what to expect. I didn’t know anyone who had been in the class, but after hearing about the opportunities it provided students with, I decided to give it a shot. Park Hill School District’s Professional Studies Program paired with Novella Brandhouse and all my expectations for this class and Novella were completely surpassed. From the very start of my internship, everyone I’ve had the pleasure to meet has been so incredibly welcoming and made me feel like part of the team straight away.

Within the first day, I already felt comfortable and like I belonged. In these past few months at Novella Brandhouse, I have learned so much from my experiences. They have opened up an entire world of marketing and branding to me that I had no idea about. I have worked on many projects like gathering information about Instagram, researching Brookside Art Annual Returning Artists, and collecting images for various social media posts. I’ve been made aware of all the information and different things to explore out there about all the different aspects of a creative marketing and branding agency.

Although I have learned heaps about marketing and branding, I have also learned a lot about me as an individual. This internship has given me the opportunity to reveal different aspects of how I learn and insight into what beginning a career looks like that I couldn’t learn from inside the classroom. By placing myself in a real professional environment, I have obtained a great deal of authentic and valuable experiences. Upon entering my internship, I was unsure of what the future held for me after high school, but after my involvement with this company I am now more confident and informed in the opportunities available for me down this career path. I have had so many learning moments throughout this process and I could not be more grateful for the opportunity to work with these talented people.
